Urduis the state language of Pakistan, the second official language of this country is English language. Urdu belongs to Indo-Iranian branch of Indo-European family of languages. On many grounds (origin, structure and etc.) Urdu is a variety of Hindi, but unlike Hindi, it has subjected to strong impact not by Sanskrit, but by Farsi and Arabic languages.
Urdu has appeared in XIII century on the base of dialects and accents of the Delhi region, known as "Khariboli". Written Urdu is based on Arab-Persian script with three diacritics unlike Hindi where Indian writing Devanagari is used. Modern standard Urdu finally formed in XIX century in cities Delhi and Lucknow, shows a tendency of coming closer to Hindi.
